Spring Musical

The entire community looks forward to Griswold Drama's spring musical productions each year. Known for its scale, creativity, and student involvement, the spring musical brings together performers, musicians, designers, technicians, and volunteers to create something truly special.

GHS Spring Musicals have been directed by Raymond Churchill since 1995. The 2026 musical will be his 30th!

Beyond the stage, the spring musical season may also include special events and fundraisers such as a family-friendly Character Breakfast, pre-show experiences, and more. Details vary by show and are announced each season. Stay tuned!

A Community Tradition

  • At its peak, nearly 50% of the student body was involved in the spring musical in some way!

  • Spring Musical Alumni are welcomed back before performances

  • Each performance ends in a post-show celebration in the GHS cafeteria

  • In-school preview for GHS students

  • Dress rehearsal invitations for prospective students from sending-towns

  • Saturday night, Griswold Drama student directors recognize the amazing volunteers who make each show happen. It's a wonderful tradition to be a part of.

  • A Spring Musical information night, held before break, includes show details and audition materials

  • Callbacks held for most lead roles

  • Students can audition strictly for ensemble roles, too!

Behind the Scenes

Students can participate in:

  • Lighting and sound

  • Stage crew and props

  • Set construction and scenic painting

  • Costumes, hair, and makeup

  • Ushers and front-of-house support

  • Pit orchestra (as required by the show)
