History

A Legacy of Theater at Griswold High School

The Griswold High School Drama program has been part of school life since Griswold High School was incorporated in 1936. Early yearbooks document theatrical traditions such as senior plays as far back as the 1940s, and over the decades, Griswold Drama has grown into a program known for both its longevity and its heart.

Today, the program proudly continues that legacy with an annual fall play and spring musical—traditions that have been in place for more than 26 years and continue to evolve with each new generation of students.

Below is an ongoing archive of Griswold Drama productions we’ve been able to document. As we continue to research yearbooks and records, this history will keep growing—just like the program itself.

Leadership & Lasting Impact

Griswold Drama has thrived thanks to the dedication of educators, artists, and volunteers who believed in setting the bar high.

  • Raymond Churchill, Griswold High School's Vocal Music Director, has directed the spring musicals since 1995. Shrek the Musical marks his 30th production at GHS.

  • Timothy Moore, a GHS English Teacher, has directed the fall play for over two decades, guiding students through thoughtful, creative storytelling.

  • Robert “Bob” Brouillard directed many Griswold musicals prior to 1995 and played an important role in shaping the program’s early years. He was also a wonderful music teacher and coach at GHS.

With Gratitude: Honoring Those Who Made a Lasting Difference

Griswold Drama is built on the passion of people who gave their time, talent, and hearts to students.

  • Kevin Kinsall
Music Director for 20 years! Thank you for your partnership!

In Memoriam:

  • Mrs. Jayne Maynard
Costume Director, educator, and mentor. A longtime Griswold High School Consumer Sciences teacher, Mrs. Maynard supported countless productions through costume design and care. She and students also provided delicious food and service for many dinner-theaters and other events for the music department. Her impact on the drama and music programs will not be forgotten.

  • Matt Babcock
Griswold High School alumnus and Technical Director. From middle school through adulthood, Matt devoted himself to theater design and excellence. His leadership, high standards, and love for Griswold Drama—including favorite productions Jesus Christ, Superstar and Tarzan—continue to influence students and alums today.
